The South Korean Ministry of Justice announced that Indonesian tour groups will be granted visa-free entry starting Thursday until the end of December 2025, as part of a strategy to enhance inbound tourism. Under this initiative, groups consisting of three or more tourists organized by approved travel agencies can stay in South Korea for up to 15 days without a visa. This decision follows discussions at the National Tourism Strategy Meeting in February and aims to lower barriers for Indonesian visitors, thereby benefiting the local economy, particularly in the accommodation, dining, and retail sectors. In 2025, there was a significant rise in Indonesian tourists, with numbers reaching approximately 365,600, marking a 46% increase from 2023. To prevent misuse of this waiver, the ministry will require advance submission of group rosters and will screen applicants for any previous overstays or entry restrictions. Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho emphasized the importance of collaboration among ministries to ensure the program effectively supports Korea’s economy and tourism environment.
