The Pune Railway Division has updated its parcel booking process, effective May 30, following the end of its contract with a parcel-handling contractor. Passengers are now required to book consignments directly with the Railways, eliminating the need for private agents. New instruction boards have been placed at the parcel office to guide passengers. For transporting two-wheelers, it is mandatory to have an empty fuel tank, and the sender is responsible for packing the vehicle, although unpacked vehicles may be accepted with proper endorsement. The Railways has stated that it will not cover damages from improper packing. Passengers are also warned against interacting with unauthorized individuals in the parcel area and informed that no additional fees will be charged for loading or unloading. Hemant Kumar Behera, a spokesperson for the Pune Railway Division, emphasized that the changes aim to provide hassle-free services. Passengers have expressed satisfaction with the new instructions, noting the increased transparency and direct communication with railway officials.
