Elon Musk has disclosed that SpaceX's leasing agreement with Anthropic for its Colossus AI training clusters is a short-term arrangement lasting only 180 days, with a mutual 90-day cancellation notice. This deal, which involves SpaceX's extensive AI data centre in Memphis, Tennessee, was initiated by SpaceX to retain flexibility in managing computing resources. Musk emphasized that while SpaceX is committed to supporting Anthropic during this period, they may need to reclaim the computing power if demand escalates. The Colossus facility boasts over 220,000 Nvidia AI processors and is expected to deliver around 300 megawatts of power. Additionally, Anthropic has expressed interest in collaborating with SpaceX on future space-based orbital data centres, a concept that aligns with Musk's broader ambitions for advanced computing infrastructure.
