In the wake of his defeat in Pathanapuram, K.B. Ganesh Kumar (outgoing Transport Minister and LDF candidate) has accused the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of colluding to secure his loss. In a Facebook post, he expressed concerns over a 'suspicious' drop in the BJP's vote share, which fell to 7,031 votes in the recent Assembly election, down from 12,398 votes in 2021. Kumar argues that this drop indicates cross-voting aimed at consolidating anti-LDF support. He noted that while the BJP won three other seats in the state, their performance in Pathanapuram was markedly poor. Furthermore, he criticized the decision to field a candidate from the Twenty20 party under the Jackfruit symbol, claiming it was a strategic move to obscure the diversion of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) votes to the UDF. Kumar also pointed out that in three constituencies where the BJP won, the LDF was a close second, while Congress fell significantly behind, suggesting that Congress may have strategically withdrawn to facilitate the LDF's defeat.
