The Enumeration Phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls began on Sunday in Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur, as part of a broader initiative across 16 states and three Union Territories. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set June 28 as the deadline for eligible voters to submit their Enumeration Forms to be included in the Draft Electoral Rolls. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households to distribute these forms and assist voters in the submission process, which can also be done online. To enhance participation, political parties can appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to collect forms from the public. The Draft Roll will be published on July 5, and the claims and objections period will last until August 4, with final electoral rolls due on September 6. The ECI emphasizes that the aim of the SIR is to ensure that all eligible citizens are registered while preventing ineligible individuals from being included.
