In the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by Vijay emerged as the largest party, securing 108 seats but falling short of the 118 seats needed for a majority. Vijay has reached out to the Indian National Congress (INC) for support in forming the government. Congress, which won five seats, is yet to make a decision regarding this request. KC Venugopal, a Congress MP, stated that the INC is committed to maintaining a secular government and protecting the Constitution, opposing any influence from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress leadership has instructed the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) to consider the sentiments of the electorate before making a final decision on Vijay's appeal.
