The Election Commission of India (ECI) has published a supplementary voter list for the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for Thursday. This list includes electors cleared by the Tribunal, allowing them to vote. Although the total number of electors included was not disclosed, individual voters can verify their names on the ECI website by entering their Assembly and booth number. Names from booths with pending cases will not be displayed. The release of this list adheres to a Supreme Court directive, which invoked Article 142 of the Constitution, allowing voters declared eligible by the Tribunal up to two days before polling to participate. The Supreme Court had also mandated that the list be published on April 21, ahead of the polling in 152 Assembly constituencies. An updated and consolidated list of voters is anticipated to be released by the ECI later today.
