The Election Commission in Tamil Nadu has reported the seizure of items valued at ₹1,262 crore in preparation for the upcoming elections on April 23. Among these, ₹543 crore was seized in cash during vehicle checks. Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik highlighted the state's electoral strength of 5.73 crore voters, which includes 2.93 crore female electors and 14,59,039 first-time voters. A total of 75,064 polling stations have been established to facilitate the voting process, supported by over 1,06,418 ballot units and VVPAT machines. To promote inclusivity, the commission has set up 249 model polling stations, 325 women-managed stations, and 71 stations for persons with disabilities. Security measures include the deployment of 300 companies of Central Armed Police Forces alongside local police personnel. The commission is also monitoring social media to prevent digital bribery and ensure electoral integrity.
