On April 25, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reported that more than 51.8 lakh (5.18 million) domestic LPG cylinders were delivered across India, reflecting the government's commitment to ensuring a steady fuel supply amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The Ministry emphasized that there are no reported dry-outs at distributorships and that 98% of bookings are now made online, with 94% of deliveries authenticated through a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) sent to consumers' registered mobile numbers. This initiative aims to prevent diversion and ensure safety. The government reassured citizens of the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG, urging them to avoid panic buying and rely on digital booking platforms. Priority for LPG supply is being given to essential sectors, including healthcare, education, and agriculture. Additionally, the government is implementing measures to enhance refinery production and has doubled the supply of 5 kg FTL cylinders to migrant laborers. To combat hoarding and black marketing, states have been empowered under the Essential Commodities Act, and more than 2,100 enforcement raids were conducted, resulting in penalties for 310 LPG distributorships and the suspension of 70. The proactive measures reflect the government's efforts to maintain energy supply stability during challenging times.
