Farmington Public Schools has announced the appointment of Melissa Sutton as the new supervisor of special services, effective July 1. Sutton, who currently serves as the director of student support services for Bloomfield Public Schools, has a robust background in overseeing special education initiatives and ensuring compliance with federal disability laws. Farmington Superintendent Jess Giannini highlighted Sutton's experience in supporting students with diverse learning needs and her collaborative approach as key factors in her selection. Board of Education Chairperson Andrea Sobinski commended Sutton's understanding of special education programming and law. Sutton expressed her honor in joining the Farmington district, emphasizing her commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all students. With her extensive experience, including roles as a special education teacher and a board-certified behavior analyst, Sutton aims to enhance inclusive educational practices within the district. Her qualifications include a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in early childhood education, among others.
