A wedding procession in Baudai Katauta village, located in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, India, was marred by tragedy early Wednesday when a speeding SUV collided with the gathering. The incident occurred around 2 am on the Pratapgarh–Phulpur road, resulting in the deaths of two individuals: Ramesh, aged 32, who died en route to the hospital, and 12-year-old Dipanshu, who succumbed to his injuries later. Approximately a dozen others were injured, with their conditions reported as stable. Eyewitnesses described chaos as the driver attempted to escape by reversing and accelerating, hitting more people in the process. Local villagers expressed their anger by vandalizing passing vehicles, leading to traffic disruptions. Police have registered a case against the driver for negligent driving and are currently using CCTV footage to locate him.
