Drawing historical parallels, Gupta suggests that Indian politics often operates in 20-year cycles, referencing the Congress party's long tenure until 1977. He indicates that the BJP's current dominance, which began with Narendra Modi's rise in 2014, could mirror this historical pattern. However, Gupta cautions that as the BJP achieves electoral victories and gains significant mandates, public expectations will rise, creating pressure on the party to deliver effectively. Meanwhile, the Congress party continues to grapple with what Gupta describes as 'legacy issues' that hinder its recovery and ability to regain a foothold in national politics. He predicts that the Congress may require another five years to rebuild public trust ahead of the 2029 general elections.
