A newly released video from the Bargi Dam cruise disaster in Madhya Pradesh, India, captures the harrowing moments before the vessel capsized, highlighting severe lapses in safety protocols. Passengers were seen panicking as water rushed in, with many unable to access life jackets stored in sealed compartments. The cruise was reportedly overcrowded, carrying over 40 tourists despite a limit of 29. Initial findings suggest violations of the Inland Vessels Act, 2021, which mandates life jacket provisions for all passengers. As of now, nine bodies have been recovered, while four individuals remain missing. Rescue operations were hampered by heavy rain and delays in response, with local fishermen initially leading the rescue efforts. In response to the tragedy, Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has ordered a suspension of all cruise operations and initiated a statewide safety audit.
