The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, as well as the biennial Legislative Council elections in Karnataka for 2026. The nominees for the Rajya Sabha include Mahesh Kewat from Madhya Pradesh and Prof Dr M Nagaraja from Karnataka. Additionally, Lingaraj Patil and Raghu Kautilya have been selected as candidates for the Karnataka Legislative Council elections. Political activity is ramping up nationwide as candidates officially file their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections, which are set for June 18. The Election Commission has outlined that 24 seats will be contested across ten states, with the last date for filing nominations being June 8. The seats include four each from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat, and various others from states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, notifications for Rajya Sabha bypolls in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha have also been issued.
