Delhi Police have arrested Ayush Mishra, an employee of a chartered accountant, along with two accomplices, Ashu and Akash, for orchestrating a fake robbery to misappropriate ₹6.5 lakh (approximately $7,800 USD). The incident was reported on May 4 when Mishra claimed he was attacked by two men on motorcycles while delivering cash from Burari to Rajendra Place. However, police investigations, including CCTV analysis, revealed discrepancies in Mishra's account, such as his demeanor while being followed by the alleged robbers. During questioning, Mishra changed his story multiple times and eventually confessed to staging the robbery in collaboration with his associates. Police recovered ₹2.5 lakh from Mishra, and subsequent raids yielded an additional ₹2 lakh from Ashu's motorcycle repair shop and another ₹2 lakh from Akash's residence. Both motorcycles used in the crime were also seized. Mishra, originally from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, had only been working in Delhi for a couple of months before planning the heist with his friends during social gatherings.
