Boating services at Kesi Ghat in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, have resumed after a tragic incident in which 16 devotees lost their lives on April 10. The district magistrate, Chandra Prakash Singh, emphasized the importance of safety, stating that the boating facility had been suspended due to non-compliance with safety regulations. Following a review, new standards were established, mandating that both boatmen and visitors wear life jackets and ensuring that boats undergo fitness checks. Registration for boatmen is now mandatory, with fees set at ₹1,500 for motorboats and ₹500 for simple boats. By Sunday evening, 135 boatmen had received their licenses, and 400 registration forms were purchased, indicating a strong response from the local boating community. The authorities are committed to ensuring the safety of the thousands of devotees who visit the area.
