Abhay Mangaldas has been appointed as the Honorary German Consul in Ahmedabad, with a strong emphasis on promoting education and skill development, particularly for economically weaker students. He aims to teach the German language and provide vocational training in collaboration with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, which could lead to employment opportunities with German companies both in India and Germany. Christoph Hallier, the Consul General of Germany in Mumbai, highlighted that this appointment signifies the beginning of a 'new chapter' for Germany in Gujarat, aimed at strengthening trade, culture, and business relations. The Gujarat government has welcomed this initiative, which is expected to enhance bilateral cooperation amid global challenges. Hallier noted that India and Germany enjoy robust ties, especially in economic partnerships, and the recent EU-India Free Trade Agreement reflects their commitment to mutual benefit.
