On Tuesday, an 18-year-old college student named Aryan Deepak Thapar from Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai, tragically drowned in a dam near Karjat, Maharashtra, during a field trip with his classmates. Thapar was part of a group of approximately 70 students who had traveled to the area. After completing their academic activities, most of the group left, but Thapar and two others remained due to a vehicle breakdown near Palasdari. While the other two went to arrange for repairs, Thapar entered the dam's water, where he initially swam two laps. Unfortunately, he did not resurface after attempting a third lap. His friends alerted local authorities, and a search operation was initiated. After unsuccessful initial efforts, a missing person report was filed. Search operations resumed early Wednesday morning, leading to the recovery of Thapar's body at around 8:35 AM. He was declared dead at a local hospital, prompting the Karjat police to register an accidental death report.
