Lucknow has seen a significant rise in temperatures, with the mercury crossing 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday after a period of milder weather. The maximum temperature reached 40.4 degrees Celsius, slightly above the normal range, while the minimum temperature was 28.1 degrees Celsius, also above normal. High humidity levels, peaking at 71%, have compounded the discomfort for residents venturing outdoors. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) anticipates further temperature increases over the next two days, with maximums likely to exceed 42 degrees Celsius. Senior IMD scientist Mohammad Danish indicated that this heatwave, combined with humidity, will persist for several days. However, relief is expected as a western disturbance approaches North India, which should alleviate the high temperatures before the monsoon season begins. Other regions in the state, such as Banda and Jhansi, recorded the highest temperatures at 43.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Prayagraj at 42.8 degrees Celsius. The weather is expected to remain dry across the state as temperatures continue to rise.
