Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko has called on the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action to upgrade the Gandarvakottai Government Hospital in Pudukottai district. Following his recent visit, Vaiko expressed concern over the hospital's deteriorating infrastructure, stating that the buildings are in such poor condition that they pose a risk of collapse. He noted that only a two-phase electricity supply is operational in a facility that requires three-phase power, and critical areas such as the morgue and toilets are non-functional due to inadequate drainage systems. Vaiko had previously highlighted these issues during a visit on January 4, 2025, and had communicated his concerns to the then Health Minister, requesting urgent construction of new buildings. Recently, he presented a memorandum to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, urging for immediate action. Although the Public Works Department has initiated follow-up measures, no construction has yet begun. Vaiko emphasized the need for additional funding to address the hospital's worsening conditions and expressed hope that with the new government's proactive approach, improvements would soon be realized, ultimately enhancing healthcare services for the community.
