KIMS Hospitals in Secunderabad celebrated a significant achievement by completing over 10,000 brain tumor surgeries, coinciding with World Brain Tumour Day. Dr. B Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS, unveiled a new Robotic Digital Microscope aimed at enhancing surgical precision in complex procedures. Dr. Rao highlighted the importance of early detection and the impact of modern lifestyle choices on brain health. Dr. Manas Kumar Panigrahi, a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon, noted that 10% of surgeries were performed on children, countering the myth that brain tumors are primarily a concern for older adults. He also called for routine brain scans to be included in health check-ups, which currently focus more on cardiac evaluations. The event featured discussions on the symptoms of brain tumors and the necessity for immediate medical consultation when symptoms arise. The gathering included neuro-experts and patients, along with a painting competition for children to promote awareness.
