Vanni Arasu (VCK) and AM Shahjahan (IUML) were sworn in as ministers in the Tamil Nadu government led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Friday. The oath was administered by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in Chennai, marking a significant cabinet expansion aimed at strengthening governance. This expansion follows the recent allocation of portfolios to a total of 23 ministers. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has retained several key portfolios, including Home and Police, while also overseeing Special Initiatives and Poverty Alleviation. Notably, Tamil Nadu has become the second state in India to establish a dedicated Artificial Intelligence (AI) department at the cabinet level. The Women Welfare portfolio has been reassigned to K Jegadeshwari, now responsible for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment. Additionally, N Marie Wilson has been appointed as Finance Minister, tasked with managing Finance and Planning & Development matters. The cabinet also welcomed two Congress MLAs, S Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan, as part of this significant reshuffle.
