कुरुक्षेत्र में मोटर एक्सीडेंट क्लेम्स ट्रिब्यूनल ने 26 फरवरी 2024 को सड़क हादसे में जान गंवाने वाले 19 वर्षीय नितिन के माता-पिता को 17 लाख 96 हजार 300 रुपये (लगभग $21,600 USD) मुआवजा देने का आदेश दिया है। इस मुआवजे पर याचिका दायर होने की तारीख से भुगतान तक 6% वार्षिक ब्याज भी देय होगा। नितिन अंबाला के नहोनी स्थित कृष्णा स्कूल से अपने घर साहा लौट रहा था, तभी कैंटर ने उसकी मोटरसाइकिल को टक्कर मार दी, जिससे उसकी मौके पर ही मौत हो गई। ट्रिब्यूनल ने प्रत्यक्षदर्शी गवाहों, एफआईआर और अन्य दस्तावेजों के आधार पर यह माना कि दुर्घटना कैंटर चालक की लापरवाही से हुई। बीमा कंपनी ने यह तर्क दिया कि नितिन के पास ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस नहीं था, लेकिन ट्रिब्यूनल ने इसे स्वीकार नहीं किया। ट्रिब्यूनल ने नितिन की मासिक आय 11 हजार रुपये मानते हुए मुआवजे की राशि निर्धारित की।
