In Kirti Nagar, West Delhi, a security guard named Vinod Paswan has been booked for allegedly beating a stray dog to death with an iron rod on May 7. The incident was reported by Tarun Ghai, a local resident, who claimed that the dog was taken to a veterinary practitioner but later succumbed to its injuries. Following the incident, tensions escalated when Jasmeet Kaur, an animal rights activist, allegedly assaulted Paswan outside the police station, leading to a cross-FIR against her and others. Paswan has been charged under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing grievous hurt and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Kaur and her associates face charges under Section 115(1) of the BNS for causing hurt and Section 126 for wrongful restraint. Police are investigating both cases, reviewing witness statements and CCTV footage to determine the facts.
