Amjad Ayub Mirza, a political activist from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), has called for urgent intervention from the United Nations due to a deteriorating humanitarian and political crisis in the region. In a video statement, he expressed alarm over reports of a violent crackdown on peaceful protesters in Rawalakot, who were advocating for their economic, social, and civil rights. Mirza alleged that security forces, including the Pakistani Rangers and Punjab Police, used live ammunition against unarmed demonstrators, leading to civilian casualties. He criticized the Pakistani government's heavy-handed approach, which he believes has heightened tensions instead of addressing public grievances. Mirza urged the international community to verify these allegations and emphasized the necessity for an independent UN fact-finding mission to investigate the situation and ensure civilian protection. He warned that failure to act could lead to severe consequences, stating that the world must not remain silent while civilians seek protection from repression and violence.
