The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has established a dedicated paddy control room in Ludhiana to ensure a reliable electricity supply during the critical paddy sowing season. Operational from June 1, the 24x7 control room is situated at the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control centre within the 66 kV sub-station complex in Sarabha Nagar. This facility will monitor power supply across the central zone, focusing on outages and disruptions, especially in rural areas where irrigation is vital. The control room will be staffed by a team that includes three junior engineers, one senior scale assistant, and five computer operators, who will work in shifts to maintain constant oversight. PSPCL has also set up four dedicated mobile numbers for real-time communication regarding faults and repair progress. Reports on outages will be submitted to the control room three times daily to ensure efficient monitoring. Chief engineer Jagdev Singh Hans emphasized the importance of this initiative in minimizing disruptions for farmers during the paddy sowing season.
