On Tuesday evening, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested Daljeet Kaur, a 50-year-old woman from Shimlapuri, and Honey Kumar, a 29-year-old man from Aujla village in Jalandhar, at Ludhiana railway station in Punjab, India. They were found in possession of 39 kg of poppy husk, marking the largest single recovery at this station. The contraband was reportedly brought from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The police intercepted the duo as they attempted to leave the station through an under-construction section, having aroused suspicion due to a large bag they were carrying. Both individuals have prior criminal records; Daljeet was previously arrested in 2022 for possessing 4.5 quintals of poppy husk, while Honey has multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act.
