Uttar Pradesh's pass percentage for the CBSE Class XII results dropped to 77.2%, a decline of 2.9% from last year's 80.1%. This year's performance continues to position UP as a low performer among Indian states, trailing behind Madhya Pradesh (79.43%) and others, while Kerala and Tamil Nadu topped the list with pass rates of 95.61% and 95.25%, respectively. Girls excelled with a pass rate of 83.3%, compared to 72.8% for boys. The CBSE noted that issues such as a poor pupil-teacher ratio and inadequate educational resources contributed to the state's performance. Additionally, language barriers, particularly for students not fluent in English or Hindi, were highlighted as challenges. This year, the CBSE introduced On Screen Marking (OSM) to improve evaluation accuracy and transparency. Notably, the board did not release a merit list or award divisions to discourage unhealthy competition among students, although merit certificates will be issued to the top 0.1% of students in each subject. A total of 3.79 lakh students registered for the exams, with 2.90 lakh successfully passing.
