Lieutenant Governor (LG) Sinha inaugurated a ₹200 crore industrial unit by Eveready Industries India Limited in Samba, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The new facility is projected to create around 500 direct and indirect jobs, significantly contributing to local economic growth and supporting the government's vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India). Sinha emphasized that this inauguration, along with the changing atmosphere in the Union Territory, reflects the sustained efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been pivotal in reshaping the economic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the industrial revolution witnessed in regions like Samba, Kathua, and Jammu is a testament to this transformation. In the financial year 2025-26, Jammu and Kashmir attracted investments totaling ₹5,824 crore, marking a 13-fold increase compared to the average investment levels recorded before 2021. Mohit Burman, non-executive director of Eveready, highlighted the company's commitment to contributing to the local economy and the broader vision of self-reliance.
