In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, authorities in Anantnag and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir conducted a demolition drive on Wednesday, targeting properties linked to alleged drug dealers. This operation is part of a 100-day government program aimed at eradicating the drug menace in the Union Territory. In the Sangam area along National Highway 44, several illegal structures, including roadside eateries, were demolished. Notable establishments included Kashmir Restaurant, owned by Gul Mohammad Mir and his son Bashir Ahmad Mir, both implicated in multiple drug-related FIRs at the Bijbehara police station. Adjacent to it, Taj Restaurant, owned by Mohammad Maqbool Mir and his sons, was also razed due to their involvement in narcotics trafficking. Additionally, Mir Restaurant, owned by their brother Amma Mir, was destroyed for being illegally constructed. In a separate operation in the Wachi area of Zainapora, Shopian, shops belonging to Abdul Hamid Ganie and Mohammad Ramzan Ganie, both accused in narcotics cases, were demolished. Local officials emphasized that these actions reflect the administration's commitment to dismantling the financial assets of the drug trade and reclaiming encroached state land used for criminal activities.
