This progress was reviewed by Haryana's chief secretary, Anurag Rastogi, who noted that the nationwide census exercise is crucial for systematically identifying and mapping every household. Lalit Jain, the director of census operations in Haryana, reported that over 97% of Houselisting Blocks (HLBs) have commenced their activities, with several districts, including Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra, achieving full initiation of the process. Notably, Panipat municipal corporation recorded the highest percentage of completed work among urban areas, followed by Rohtak and Faridabad. Financial Commissioner Sumita Misra highlighted the need for cooperation from local governance bodies, such as municipal committees and resident welfare associations, to facilitate the census at the grassroots level. To ensure timely completion, district administrations were advised to adjust the working hours of census staff. Rastogi also mentioned preparations for the special intensive revision exercise set to begin on June 15, 2026, and warned of disciplinary actions against those neglecting their census duties.
