Beran A pleaded guilty to several terrorism-related charges, which could have resulted in a maximum sentence of 20 years. Prosecutors revealed that he attempted to illegally acquire weapons, including a machine gun and a hand grenade, and sought to produce explosives using instructions from an Islamic State video. Additionally, he was involved in separate plots with two friends to execute attacks in Middle Eastern cities earlier that year. The group denied providing support to a third associate arrested in Mecca for an unrelated attack.
