The body of a 12-year-old boy has been found in the River Ribble in Ribchester, Lancashire, after he reportedly encountered difficulties while swimming with friends. Lancashire Police received calls regarding the child's welfare just after 2 PM on Tuesday, prompting a large-scale search operation that included the police's underwater search team and assistance from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. The search continued until around 7:50 PM when the boy's body was recovered. Although formal identification is pending, authorities believe the body to be that of the missing child. Police have stated that the circumstances surrounding the death are not suspicious, and a report will be sent to HM Coroner. The boy's family is currently receiving support from specially trained officers, and the police expressed their condolences, stating, "Our thoughts are very much with his loved ones at this extremely distressing time." Earlier, the area near the river was cordoned off as emergency teams worked diligently to locate the boy.
