This trip comes ahead of the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting scheduled for Tuesday in New Delhi. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, announced Rubio's arrival on social media and highlighted the significance of this visit. During his time in Kolkata, Rubio is anticipated to visit the iconic Victoria Memorial, a major tourist attraction. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place by Kolkata Police to ensure the safety of the Secretary during his visit. Following his time in Kolkata, Rubio will travel to New Delhi to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, technology, defense, and the strategic Quad alliance, which includes India, the US, Japan, and Australia. This visit underscores the growing partnership between the United States and India as they seek to address mutual concerns and strengthen bilateral ties.
