In West Bengal, post-election violence has resulted in the deaths of two political party workers. Madhu Mondal, a worker from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was allegedly beaten to death by Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters during a victory procession in the New Town area on Tuesday evening. Earlier that day, Abir Sheikh, a TMC worker, was reportedly hacked to death by BJP activists in Nanoor, located in Birbhum district. The violence also included assaults on a former TMC councillor in Howrah district and incidents of arson and vandalism at TMC offices across multiple suburbs, including Tollygunge, Kasba, Baruipur, Kamarhati, Baranagar, and Baharampur. In response, BJP state chief Samik Bhattacharya emphasized the need for a change in the political culture of Bengal, stating that violence will not be tolerated and urging the administration to take action against any offenders, regardless of party affiliation.
