A tragic incident occurred at the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where a 28-year-old MD student was found dead in her hostel room on Sunday night. The student, originally from Lucknow, had only recently joined the institute earlier this year. According to Syed Ali Abbas, the deputy commissioner of police (city), the preliminary investigation indicates that she may have died by suicide after consuming an excessive amount of sleeping pills. It has been revealed that she had previously attempted suicide, raising concerns about her mental health. Family members have arrived at the scene but had not filed any complaints as of Monday afternoon. Dr. Dinesh Rathore, the director of the institute, stated that the student was discovered unconscious and was rushed to the emergency ward of SN Medical College and Hospital, where she was declared dead. In response to this incident, a three-member committee has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and is expected to submit a report within a week. The student had previously reported misbehavior by a senior, but an internal inquiry found no evidence to support her claims.
