On Wednesday, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) executed pre-dawn searches at eight locations across six districts in Kashmir, focusing on Pakistan-sponsored terror networks and sleeper cells. This operation is part of an investigation concerning recruitment, radicalisation, and facilitation of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, linked to FIR No. 02/2015 registered under various legal provisions, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The identified locations include two each in Srinagar and Bandipora, and one each in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Sopore in Baramulla district. Officials suspect that the individuals targeted were in contact with terrorist handlers in Pakistan via encrypted communication and were involved in spreading extremist propaganda. The searches aim to recover evidence, establish terror linkages, and generate actionable intelligence. Additionally, a joint counter-terror operation named Operation Sheruwali is ongoing in Rajouri district, aimed at locating suspected terrorists in dense forests, with security forces intensifying efforts following heavy gunfire incidents.
