The garden, featuring trees, flowers, and seating, aims to provide a restorative outdoor space for those recovering from serious health issues. During her visit, the Queen interacted with patients, including Catherine Oppong-Barbo, a neurosurgery nurse who is currently a patient after suffering a brain hemorrhage. She expressed how the balcony garden serves as a vital connection to the outside world for patients in intensive care. The garden was created through a collaboration between the John King Brain Tumour Foundation and St George’s Hospital Charity, transforming an unused area into a therapeutic space. Laura King, the foundation's founder, highlighted the garden's significance for families and staff, providing them with a necessary escape during stressful times. After unveiling a commemorative plaque, the Queen praised the efforts of those involved in the project, affirming its positive impact on patient recovery.
