On April 21, a bus operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) crashed into a wedding card shop at Appa Balwant Chowk in Pune, Maharashtra, causing significant property damage but no injuries. The driver, Balu Chavan, was suspended following the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the bus may have swerved to avoid a tanker, or there could have been brake failure or driver distraction. A special inquiry committee, led by co-managing director Alice Pore, has been established to investigate the accident and is expected to submit a report within seven days. The crash caused temporary traffic congestion on Bajirao Road, affecting vehicular movement in the area. Police have initiated a separate investigation and registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver.
