Julie Swidler, who has served as Sony Music's executive vice president of business affairs and general counsel for 18 years, is set to leave the company at the end of June. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in shaping the company's strategy and growth, according to Sony Music Group chairman Rob Stringer. Swidler plans to launch an advisory services company focused on creative ventures, stating that this is the right moment for her to embark on a new adventure. Her career includes significant roles at various record labels, including Polygram Records and RCA Records. Notably, she oversaw Sony Music Nashville during a key transition in 2015 and participated in a task force addressing diversity in the music industry in 2018. Swidler will be recognized on June 8 at the UJA-Federation of New York's music visionary award celebration, alongside other industry leaders, for her contributions to the field.
