Ganesh Shahaji Kaspate, a 40-year-old police constable stationed at the Koregaon Park police station in Pune, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on May 6, 2026, for accepting a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh. The case revolves around a businessman facing a non-bailable warrant issued by a Hyderabad court related to a cheque bounce case. Kaspate had previously accepted ₹5 lakh from the businessman, assuring him that he would not be arrested. After demanding an additional ₹2.5 lakh, which was negotiated down to ₹1.5 lakh, the businessman’s employee filed a complaint with the ACB. Kaspate was apprehended during a trap operation, where he attempted to flee and physically resisted arrest, biting the complainant.
