As the spring sports season concludes in Southwest Michigan, the Kalamazoo-area Athlete of the Week poll has opened for its final round, featuring 20 exceptional athletes. Voting is available until 9 a.m. on June 12, 2025. Among the nominees, Elli VanDusen from Kalamazoo Christian made headlines by scoring the game-winning goal in a regional semifinal and adding two more in a decisive regional final victory. Maddox Rosalin of Vicksburg also shone, delivering a walk-off single in a regional semifinal and earning a win in the quarterfinals. Ana Cheng from Mattawan celebrated a significant milestone by winning her first state championship in singles tennis, concluding her impressive season with a 27-2 record. Cale Hackenberg led Marcellus to its first-ever regional title, showcasing his pitching prowess with a 15-strikeout complete game. Other notable athletes include Laila Rashid, Ty Goddard, and Kennedy Price, all contributing to their teams' successes. Fans are encouraged to participate in the voting process and can nominate athletes for future consideration.
