Several key leaders and members of the Janathipathya Samrakshana Samiti (JSS) in Kollam district, Kerala, have resigned from their party to join the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). This mass defection was spearheaded by Sudhakaran Pallath, the JSS Kollam district secretary, along with Kulakkada Rajendran, a state executive member. The departure also included state and district office-bearers from the JSS youth wing, the Janathipathya Yuva Samiti (JYS), and various constituency-level leaders. During a press conference at the Kollam Press Club, IUML district president Naushad Yunus highlighted that the JSS leaders were drawn to the IUML due to its strong secular values and commitment to development initiatives. Furthermore, there are indications that additional JSS members may join IUML in the near future, signaling a potential shift in the political landscape in Kollam.
