Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted the state's successful irrigation strategy during a gathering in Seechewal village, marking the 38th death anniversary of Sant Baba Avtar Singh. He reported that Punjab has utilized 96% of canal water for irrigation, which has significantly helped in improving the groundwater table across various regions. This year, over 21,000 cusecs of water was released, resulting in a recharge of 21 lakh cubic metres of groundwater, with water levels rising by two to four metres in many areas, greatly benefiting farmers. The chief minister noted that 14,000 km of pipes and watercourses have been laid to ensure efficient water distribution. He emphasized that this initiative not only conserves groundwater but also enhances soil fertility. Furthermore, Mann urged the public to unite against divisive forces threatening communal harmony in Punjab, asserting that the state's strength lies in its unity. Alongside these announcements, Mann and Rajya Sabha member Balbir Singh Seechewal inaugurated a new astroturf at the Sant Avtar Singh Memorial hockey stadium.
