Five people lost their lives in two tragic train accidents near the Pachdevra halt overbridge in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India, on Wednesday evening. The first incident involved the Kalka Express, which struck Baliram Bhagat, a 36-year-old man from Siwan, Bihar. Following this, several passengers exited the train, leading to a second disaster when the Purushottam Express ran over four individuals on an adjacent track around 6:45 PM. Among the deceased were Sunil Kumar from Neebi in Mirzapur and Aakash from Khairgarh in Firozabad, while the other two victims remain unidentified. The North Central Railway confirmed that the chaos ensued after passengers stood on the tracks during the unscheduled halt. Emergency teams from the government railway police (GRP), railway protection force (RPF), and local police quickly arrived at the scene. The accidents disrupted train services on the Howrah–Delhi route temporarily. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences and directed officials to expedite relief measures.
