Lameec Crawford, hailing from Newlands East, South Africa, recently celebrated a significant achievement by graduating with distinction from Emeris Durban North, making her the first in her family to earn a university degree. This milestone was particularly poignant for Crawford, who reflected on her journey, stating, “This was a huge milestone for me, which I will never forget.” Her path to graduation was fraught with challenges, notably the unexpected loss of her mother during her first year, a moment that nearly derailed her academic aspirations. Despite this heartbreak, Crawford remained resolute, motivated by a desire to honor her mother’s memory, as her mother had never completed her studies. Throughout her degree, she maintained a distinction average and was recognized as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Initially aspiring to study law, Crawford discovered her passion for psychology, which aligns with her interest in understanding human behavior. Looking ahead, she plans to continue her education with an IIE Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology, with hopes of eventually obtaining a master’s degree.
