The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) confirmed on Thursday that it has received Vinesh Phogat's reply to a show cause notice issued on May 9. This announcement came after the Supreme Court dismissed WFI's plea against a Delhi High Court ruling that allowed Phogat to participate in selection trials, deeming the plea 'infructuous' due to recent developments. WFI President Sanjay Kumar Singh stated that Vinesh's response will be evaluated according to the federation's regulations. Additionally, the conduct of certain wrestlers during the selection trials is currently under review. Vinesh, who made her return to the mat after a two-year hiatus, faced a setback last Saturday when she was defeated by Meenakshi Goyat in the semi-finals of the Asian Games trials held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Despite winning her first two bouts, she lost 6-4 to Meenakshi. Earlier this month, WFI had ruled Vinesh ineligible for domestic competitions until June 26, citing anti-doping regulations, but she defied this ruling by participating in the National Open Ranking Tournament in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.
