Scammers create convincing replicas of legitimate ticketing sites, often using tactics such as countdown timers and limited seat notifications to create urgency. Once fans make a purchase, they receive fake tickets that fail to scan at stadium gates. Additionally, fake streaming sites pose a severe threat, distributing malware that can steal sensitive information, including banking credentials and cryptocurrency wallets. CloudSEK urges fans to only buy tickets from official platforms and to be cautious of heavily discounted offers or suspicious URLs. Security experts recommend enabling two-factor authentication and keeping devices updated to mitigate risks associated with these scams.
