The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set the schedule for the biennial elections to 16 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) from Local Authorities Constituencies. The official notification will be issued on May 25, 2026, and polling is slated for June 18, 2026, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Following the elections, the counting of votes will occur on June 22, 2026. Candidates must file their nominations by June 1, 2026, with scrutiny taking place on June 2 and withdrawal of nominations allowed until June 4. The entire election process is expected to be completed by June 25, 2026. The 16 seats are distributed across various constituencies, including Solapur, Ahmednagar, Thane, and Jalgaon, among others. The ECI noted that previous elections could not be conducted due to unmet criteria regarding local body functioning and the availability of electors, but these conditions have now been satisfied according to the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra. Consequently, the Model Code of Conduct is now in effect in the affected constituencies.
