Jorge Luis Alverio Nunez, a Florida resident, has filed a lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Line seeking $5 million after allegedly suffering second-degree burns on his feet from the deck of the Carnival Magic. According to the lawsuit, Nunez experienced severe burns within seconds while walking barefoot on the ship's deck in May 2022. The lawsuit claims that while passengers might expect a deck exposed to sunlight to be warm, they would not anticipate it reaching temperatures that could cause severe burns. Nunez accuses Carnival of negligence for not providing warnings about the hot deck, failing to post signs, and neglecting to monitor deck temperatures. He asserts that the injuries have led to significant medical needs and a life-altering impact. Carnival Cruise has reportedly faced at least 25 similar injury complaints over six years, indicating a potential pattern of negligence regarding deck safety. As of now, Carnival Corp., the parent company, has not issued a public statement regarding the lawsuit, citing company policy not to comment on pending litigation.
